Back to school has brought with it the need for routine. Unfortunately with Alex starting school, this means lots of new changes, so we haven't found our groove yet.
We've got a lot of new things. New school, new daycare afterschool, new bedtime, and new wake-up time. Taking a truly cold lunch to school. Change can be scary for a four-year-old, not to mention for his parents!
A few weeks before school started, we moved bedtime up a little bit. It's still on the late end of things... about 8:45pm, but this works for us and it works for him. If I put him to bed at 730 or 8, we'd only have about an hour and a half after work/school. Not enough time. He still naps, so I'm not worried about him getting enough sleep. We've been getting up between 6 and 630am so we can get to school on time. Then it's a new afterschool routine as well. Picking up from the new daycare, getting home, unpacking the backpack, getting dinner ready, etc.
I know it will take us a few weeks, but I'm definitely looking forward to getting into a groove. It will make things less stressful for all of us.

Getting in the groove is tough for everyone. COnnor has to get up at 6 to be out the door at 6:50. I think I yelled at him 20 times TO GET YOUR BUTT OUT OF BED this morning. He's almost 16....I wish he would get himself up!!

Sounds like you're getting there! As to the comment above mine, my boyfriend is 44 and I still have to practically forklift him out of bed in the morning. I guess some people never grow out of it.
