R.I.P. George Carlin

Comedian George Carlin passed away on Sunday. I really enjoyed his routines. And as with most news stories, this one has a Milwaukee, Wisconsin connection. Carlin was arrested for doing his "Seven Words You Can't Say On Television" routine at Summerfest back in 1972.
The man took his fight for freedom of speech all the way to the Supreme Court. Yes, he used profanity, but it wasn't raunchy. There's a lot of truth in his routine and he made some really keen observations. The first time I watched one of his HBO comedy specials I was a senior in high school. I laughed my butt off. My best guy friend and I rented a bunch of his other DVDs and watched them while munching Skittles, M&Ms, and pop corn and drinking flavored seltzers. We thought we were cool. Every time there was a Carlin special on HBO I watched it. He did a lot of hard living and cleaned up his act, but his time was up. Thanks for the laughs and for fighting for the First Amendment, George!

OH MY GOSH and yes I meant to scream that at you! When can we meet? I am only one hour away from you :)

Alright, I see you are a fan of Welcome Back Gotter, I am all about Craig. I am so glad you said something about being from Wisconsin ... But how geeky am I, it is like Sydney is from Wisconsin and so is Carrie, I wonder if they know each other!

I couldn't find an email address for you or I would have totally babbled to you privately so if you want to delete this you can. If I come back (and I will) and I see a sign that says message removed by author, I will know that you read my comment ;)

Well, I have to go because I giant mosquito just carried off one of my children ... better that than those angry mobs of food stampers you've got downtown, right?
