Finally Friday

We managed to test drive a car Wednesday night, thanks to my meeting being canceled. We drove a Honda CRV. Not bad... also looking at the Toyota RAV 4 and the Saturn VUE. So, if any of you want to brag about your car, please... by all means!!! Plug away!

My big event is tonight. The proof of the stress is in the two giant zits on my chin. I'll be dressed up (fun!), but working (not really fun). VERY much looking forward to a drink in the bar on the top floor of the hotel afterwards. (I promise to take/post pictures this weekend.)

The hard part about this crazy week has been getting home late. I won't be home till after Alex is in bed. I talked to Alex about this tonight as I was rocking him before bed.

"Sweetie, mommy's going to be home really late tomorrow night."
"But why mommy?"
"Because I have to work late. But I'll come in and give you a little kiss when I get home."
"But I miss you when you have to work late."
"I know, I'll miss you too."
"I'll miss you and I'll be sad and I'll cry."
"Oh sweetie. You won't cry, you'll have fun boy-time with daddy."
"Yes I will cry."
"But we'll have all weekend together."
"Oh. Okay. I love you Mommy."

-sigh-

Broke my heart just a little. But I also love these little conversations. It's a realization that he's such a little person now. I mean he really is having these thoughts and feelings and I'm just amazed. I'm amazed that he can convey these thoughts at just three years of age. I treasure these times! I also love that he's a snuggler and let's me rock him a little bit before he hops into bed.

In potty news... Alex has pooped on the potty every day since Tuesday. Thursday it was three times... including the one time he went in the urinal at school. I gagged a little at the thought of that, but the teacher claims it's actually happens every now and again. Blech. But I feel like maybe we've turned a corner!

We have a CRV and I LOVE it. I love all the space in the very back AND I can get all three kids in the back (that's one carseat and one booster, even) and have successfully dodged the mini-van!

Ours is a 2004, and I must admit, I don't like the newest model bodies as well...the rear side windows are too small.

You know I love my Sienna, but I know how you feel about mini-vans...We have friends who love their CRV-in fact, they've had 2 of them!

Congrats on the potty thing! Gives me hope!

How is it that one minute a kid can drive you nuts and then the next moment they melt your heart. I love you little conversation. It's hard to convey what it feels like as a parent when your child starts to sincerely express his or her feelings. It is priceless.

Good luck with your event!

Honda's in general so rock.. my dad recently got rid of his 1987 Honda Accord with 398,000 miles on it... and only because it got smooshed, not because anything went wrong with it.

He now has a Honda CRV and a FIT... and loves them both....

I love the new CRVs. Haven't drove it, but looked at it on the showroom floor when we were looking for new cars a few months back. I ended up getting a VW Jetta. Our next car purchase, within the next year or two, is definitely going to be the VW Tiguan. Love it!!

Good luck with your event. I'm sure it will be a huge success and you'll be able to have your post-event celebration drink! I've looked forward to many, many of these.

We're pondering a used CRV for our next vehicle (Hubby's '91 Honda Civic is in it's golden years...) --

LOVE your conversation with your sweetie....makes me want to squeeze him, and I'm not even his mommy! :) You've got a good one.

PS I've tagged you for a meme if you're game!

I think I am just echoing a log of other comments here, we have the 05 CR-V and LOVE IT. I agree with the new design the back door opens differently and smaller windows, but otherwise the old model and new model are the same. we can get 4 people 2 big dogs and luggage for the weekend - not bad.

Dan felt like not a ton of legroom in front passenger seat due to airbag being there, but he's tall and he drives and I sit there. We've also noticed the driver seat showing a bit more wear than expected for 3 years - not sure if thats been improved on. It hasn't given is a single problem in 3 years - and has been in 2 hail storms and a rear end accident!

I will say the Rav-4 was also a possiblity but no leg room or trunk room back then. While in IN we drove a rented Rav-4 and must say I really liked it. Lots of improvements for leg room and trunk room.

Soon we will be test driving for a new vehicle, or a one that will be new to us! Right now I drive a VW Cabrio and LOVE it, but it's not really baby friendly with the convertible top and tiny backseat. :)

Please keep reviewing what you drive and finally decide on.

Aw, those times do sound so sweet.

And I said it before, I'll say it again...Yay for poop..in the toilet. :D

I don't have any of those specific cars, but I do have a Honda. I like it alot. I also loved my Toyota. So, I can speak highly of those two car makers.

Woohoo on the potty training! What a juxtaposition with the nice gala you went to huh? :)

We're looking at new cars right now too. Our Jetta is 13 years old and showing her age. Our second car is a Durango and we completely love it. It is a gas guzzler though, and sounds a bit bigger than the ones you're trying out.

Here's to car shopping!

I heart my honda odyssey.

No matter what you get be sure to get heated leather seats. Leather because they wipe clean, you don't have that with fabric. And heated, because it is Wisconsin.

Good luck in the car search, and I hope Friday night went well.

You're little guy sounds like a big boy. What a sweetie!

Hi! Okay, I love my Subaru Forrester! It is my saving grace and I love the way it handles and the fact that it is an SUV. There is great space in the back and I like that it's lower to the ground because it's easy to put stuff in and out...especially my luggage!
Oh, and I tagged you on my blog. An easy Meme questionaire. :)

So, I didn't think I would have anything to say on this topic, but I just got back from a work trip and had a RAV-4 for a rental car. I thought it was pretty roomy in the back storage area, and I like sitting up high. But I drove in some mountains (big hills) and tha thing did not have the get-up-and-go that I would have liked, and I think it was a V6. But in regular highway and in town driving, it was pretty good.

I am a huge Honda fan. Toyota, Mazda and Honda all have amazing reputations. But Honda prices their vehicles smartly.

first of all, congrats on the potty making. For sure a big milestone.

Second, Kids are so fun to be with as they are growing up. The innocence and trust is so precious. How it hurts to see some kids have that destroyed. Enjoy him. So lucky he is a snuggler!

Have a great day!
