More hilarious quotes from the two year old

It was misting and freezing last night on the way home. After we got out of the car, I warned Alex that it was slippery. He said, "Whoa, I slipped." Then he looked up and said, "It's slippery in my eyes!!"

We're having some sleep problems with him. As a first-time parent, I'm still learning what to do. Sleepless nights are especially hard now. Craig and I are both exhausted from work. Craig knows I'm a sucker and would probably rock Alex back to sleep, or lay on the couch with him all night long, so Craig usually goes in there to quiet Alex back down. Alex has gotten up the last two nights, and for about the last week, he's been getting up between 5AM and 6AM. While that waking time isn't awful, Craig goes in to work later than I do (8AM for me, 10AM for him) so it can be painful to get up that early for both of us, either from exhaustion, or running around late.

So last night he woke up twice. The second time he was up for nearly half an hour. We're beyond crying it out. The longer he cries, the more upset he gets. A couple of times he burped and I thought he was going to be sick, but he wasn't. He hasn't had much of an appetite, so I thought maybe he wasn't feeling well. I sent Craig into the guest room to plug in a night light and set up the pop-up trundle. Alex and I slept in there together for a few hours till it was time to wake up. Needless to say, I'm tired today.

I'm not sure what the deal is with the sleep issue. Alex is still in a crib, so maybe he's ready for a big bed. I decided to take a baby-step tonight and gave him the flattest pillow I could find. He was thrilled. We'll see if it works! I'm crossing my fingers!!!
